SCS allows families to use curriculum of their choice. We prefer a blend between formal (textbooks, workbooks, college classes, group course, etc.) and informal (Bible devotional, PE, Home Education, etc.). We believe in order to effectively teach your children one must have a meaningful resource of material to cover the content of each course. As an example, if one does not speak Spanish, teaching Spanish informally without structured curriculum would make it most improbable for a student to master the necessary basics.
Many of the liste publishers also offer some form of a home school program for record keeping. Not all states allow this to meet compulsory attendance requirements. SCS does allows families to use the their choice of curriculum.
